Hamlet star earns late call-up into England squad

Dulwich Hamlet's proud officials have congratulated Frazer Shaw on his late call-up to the England C squad.

The left-back will join up with Non-League's Three Lions for their friendly against the Republic of Ireland's U21s in Galway on Monday June 1 following a number of withdrawals from manager Paul Fairclough's original 16 man squad.

The 20-year-old defender, pictured, became the first Hamlet player ever on Tuesday to be selected for England C and will team up with Hendon's Charlie Goode. Together, they will fly the flag for the Ryman League in the new look England squad which also contains three more players from outside the Football Conference.

Shaw, who kicked off his career at West Ham, was instrumental in Gavin Rose's side securing a place in the Ryman Premier play-offs and officials hailed the achievement of one of their most consistent performers last term in a statement on their official website.

The club said: "Congratulations to Frazer Shaw after he was called up to join the England C squad for their forthcoming friendly with Ireland. Frazer joins a long list of Dulwich Hamlet internationals though it is some time since a Champion Hill player pulled on the famous Three Lions shirt."

England C last met the Republic of Ireland in May 2010 in Waterford in the International Challenge Trophy.
