K's join the leaders

By Peter Butcher

KINGSTONIAN made it a leading group of five in Ryman Premier with a 3-1 home win over bottom club Leiston today (Sunday).

K's, in fact, are up to third place while Leiston remain at the foot of the table with only two points to show for their first five outings at this level.

Aaron Goode opened the scoring on 14 minutes and Wade Small added another just after the half-hour. Gareth Heath reduced the arrears three minutes after the break but Matt Pattison drilled home a free-kick five minutes later to restore the two-goal margin.

An early penalty was enough for Wroxham to win 1-0 at Romford and chalk up their maiden Ryman North victory. Matt Daniels found the corner of the net after Lewis Payne handled. Generally in control, the Yachtsmen should have scored again when Andrew Eastaugh headed against the bar and Roscoe Hipperson headed the rebound over a gaping net.

In the end the visitors were grateful to keeper Michael Hilton for a fine late save to keep out Mo Diamte's header.

Where next?

More cup delight for Soham SOHAM may be one of only two teams in the whole Ryman League without a point to their credit, but it has been a different story in cup competitions.
Elton spoils it for Anvils RYMAN South leaders Crawley Down could hardly have come closer to making it four wins out of four at Walton Casuals yesterday (Saturday).
