New Jammers boss faces early twin test

Maldon & Tiptree

Former Wimbledon and Cambridge United defender Alan Kimble has been unveiled as the new manager of Ryman North Maldon & Triptree.

The 48-year-old brother of Witham Town manager Garry Kimble will face his twin in his second game in charge when the Jammers host the Spa Road outfit in the Robert Dyas Cup next Tuesday night after travelling to Redbridge in league action this Saturday.

Kimble, pictured following his appointment, was handed the task of replacing departed manager Terry Spillane at the Wallace Binder Ground on Monday by Blues chairman Ed Garty. He will be assisted by Anwar Uddin, his former Dagenham & Redbridge defensive team-mate.

The new Jammers manager played more than 300 games for Cambridge United and 220 for Wimbledon between 1986 and 2002 after starting out at Charlton Athletic with his twin brother.

After finishing his playing days with spells at Luton Town, Dagenham & Redbridge and Heybridge Swifts, the defender made his managerial debut at Aveley. He followed that with spells as assistant at Ebbsfleet United, Hemel Hempstead Town and Eastbourne Borough, who he left last year.

After leaving the Essex club following their 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Soham Town Rangers just over two weeks ago, Spillane was thanked for the success he'd brought them.
