Tuesday's Ryman Premier action review

Ryman League Premier Division

Maidstone United returned to the top of the Ryman League Premier Division table on goal difference after a hard-fought 1-0 win at The Prospects Stadium on Tuesday night over Canvey Island, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Lower mid-table Canvey had several chances throughout the game but, having scored only ten goals in their dozen games before this, confidence in front of goal is a problem for the Gulls at present.

Frannie Collin had a great chance to give the Stones the lead after 15 minutes but home keeper Josh Vickers pulled off a good save. The Gulls dominated the match for long periods but fell short in front of goal. And they were made to pay four minutes before the break when Zac Attwood scored what proved to be the only goal of the game for the visitors.

Canvey had a goal ruled out for a foul on Graeme Andrews around the hour-mark and the Stones hit the post twice in the final few minutes.
