The Football Association’s coaches are looking for players to help England win the 2015 Cerebral Palsy World Cup.

England are hosting next June’s tournament at St George’s Park and the governing body’s coaches are holding trials in September for current or former Ryman League players who were either born with Cerebral Palsy or have suffered a stroke or traumatic brain injury.

Jeff Davis, the FA’s performance director for paralympic football, is leading the hunt to recruit players from the National League System for the elite squad they are putting together to win the World Cup after returning from the CPISRA European Championships in Portugal earlier in August where England reached the quarter-finals before being knocked out by Russia.

Davis said: "Following the awarding of the Cerebral Palsy World Cup to St George’s Park the FA are looking for new players who either were born with Cerebral Palsy, have had a stroke or have acquired a head injury who could qualify for the England team.

"At present we have a number of players who meet this criteria and play within the National League System. On September 7 2014 we are to hold open trials for the squad and if there are any clubs who know of any current or ex-players who they think might meet this criteria they can contact me at Jeff.Davis@TheFA.com."

He added: "We would be delighted to follow up any lead or query and thank you in advance to everybody for your help."
