A Friendly round up

By Ian Townsend

Many of our sides were in action on Saturday. Here- to the best of our knowledge- is what happened. There were big wins for Kingstonian, Billericay Town, Brentwood Town, Potters Bar Town, Northwood, Broadbridge Heath, Heybridge Swifts and more

Pre-season friendlies are not always easy to keep track of, but here’s what we know about how our clubs performed on Saturday. If we don’t mention goalscorer or results, it’s because we can’t find any details!

Ashford Town welcomed National League South side Hampton & Richmond Borough, the Beavers departing with a three-one win. Another National League South side, Aveley, welcomed a side desperate to get back there, Dulwich Hamlet, with the match ending goalless.

Baffins Milton Rovers played host to Kingstonian, and the K’s triumphed by four goals to one; whilst another away win went to Redbridge, Purcell and a trialist scoring for the Motormen at Barking.
Beckenham Town hosted Cray Wanderers in a clash of Kentish titans, and the hosts saw Jalloh get on the scoresheet, but Wands got two- Black and Porter on the scoresheet.

Billericay Town welcomed Lydd Town and won by seven goals to two. Emmanuel scored three for the Blues- the last three- whilst Krasniqi, Asamoah and two from Stevenson were responsible for the rest. Brentwood Town welcomed Ashford United, but weren’t very welcoming on the field, walloping the Nuts and Bolts five-nil.

Broadfields United defeated Southall two-nil, whilst Burgess Hill Town held a Brighton & Hove Albion XI one-one, Budd scoring for the Hillians. Canvey Island hit five without reply against East Thurrock United, Salmon, two trialists, Sach and Hall scored for the Gulls.

Carshalton Athletic defeated Raynes Park Vale two-one, McKenzie with the opener for the Robins, Gallagher levelling for Vale before Cumberbatch got a late winner.

Chatham Town were four-nil winners over Meridian, Campbell, Garlinge and Kedwell (2) the scorers, whilst Chertsey Town fell to a narrow two-one defeat against Hayes & Yeading United. Cheshunt had a similar result against National League North side Kings Lynn Town, losing two-one.

Cockfosters at the east end of the Piccadilly Line played host to Potters Bar Town, the Scholars heading back up the road with a four-nil win under their belts. Two from a trialist, and own goal and one from Rose did the damage.

Cray Valley PM fell two-nil to Stansfield, whilst Folkestone Invicta narrowly lost at Dover Athletic, two-one. Cole scored the Invicta goal.

Enfield Town lost narrowly against QPR B, the visitors with the only goal of the game- whilst Sittingbourne won two-nil at Erith Town, May with both goals.

Everett Rovers welcomed Northwood, and the Woods ran out eight-one winners.

Farnham Town put up a fight against Hashtag United, but the Tags triumphed by three goals to one. Reid, Zuhdu and an own goal did the damage.

Frenford were defeated by Basildon Utd, Knight and Ali scoring for the Bees in a two-nil win, whilst Grays Athletic and Buckhurst Hill didn’t manage a goal between them. Haringey Borough and Chelmsford City were similarly devoid of goals.

Hirst, Campbell and Warman scored for Enfield at Harpenden Town, a three-nil win ensuring the visitors one hundred percent pre-season continued, whilst
Hassocks took on Broadbridge Heath, and the Bears were hungry, scoring four goals without reply. Parmiter, Lemon and a Quiasacca with two.

Heybridge Swifts hit Burnham Ramblers for four, Carter, Park (2) and Sartain the scorers, whilst Bowers & Pitsea defeated Holmesdale two-one with goals from Vaivada and Dalufunjo. Image from Alan Edmonds.

Hornchurch defeated Dagenham & Redbridge by one goal to nil, Saunders with the goal, and Concord Rangers got five without reply at Ilford, Cue with two, White, Day and Da Costa with the others. Ipswich Wanderers lost four-one against Leiston in Mark Goldfinch’s testimonial.

Lancing defeated Eastbourne Town three-nil at Culver Road. Briggs, Taggart and Franzen-Jones the scorers; whilst Leatherhead came out on top against Maidstone United, Beaney and Collins giving the Tanners the spoils in a two-one victory.

Long Melford defeated Brightlingsea Regent two-one, Thompson scoring for Regent, and Marlow defeated Aylesbury Utd by two goals to nil, with McLeish-White and Harper finding the back of the Ducks net.

Melksham Town defeated Ascot United two-nil, whilst Needham Market won by the only goal against Felixstowe & Walton United. North Greenford Utd were undone by Uxbridge, three-nil, with two from Morgan and one from Ceesay.

Old Southendian were hosts for Maldon & Tiptree, the Jammers leaving with a three-two victory. Egbri got two for the visitors, we don’t know who scored the other one.

Pagham lost two-one against Littlehampton Town, whilst Peacehaven & Telscombe Utd defeated Lewes two-one. We believe that Taylor scored for the Rooks, but that’s very much second-hand information!

Ramsgate were defeated by Hastings United, the Sussex side running out four-one winers. Jadama scored for the Rams, Akinwande, Fregene and Legg amongst the United scorers.

Sevenoaks Town defeated AFC Croydon Athletic two-nil, whilst Sheppey Utd got four against Canterbury City. Snodland Town hosted Phoenix Sports, and Sports won three-two, Pugh with two and Hayes with the other. South Park Reigate defeated Merstham one-nil.

Sutton Common Rovers defeated Haywards Heath Town three-nil, Ghana, Swaby and Torpey with the goals for Rovers. Thatcham Town fell two-nil against Maidenhead United.

Three Bridges welcomed six hundred and twenty nine fans as they took on Crawley Town, and gave the Red Devils something to worry about despite losing two-one. River scored the goal.

Tonbridge Angels were four-one winners over Hythe Town, Embery with the Hythe goal,

Tooting & Mitcham Utd defeated Corinthian-Casuals three-one, whilst
Walthamstow fell five-nil as they welcomed Waltham Abbey.

Westfield (Sussex) played host to Whitehawk, the Hawks winning five-nil, Pope with two, Walker Splatt and Somo with the others.

Our Westfield drew one-one with Woking U23’s, whilst Witham Town won four-one at White Ensign. Another four-one came at the Kentish seaside, where Whitstable Town defeated East Grinstead Town.

Wingate & Finchley drew one-one with Royston Town, whilst Worthing welcomed Bognor Regis Town- and the home fans will have been rather annoyed as the Rocks departed with a two-nil victory, Pattenden and Robson with the goals.
