Margate bring in three on the eve of the season

Margate announced three new signings on Friday- and thrust two of them straight into the side that drew with Brightlingsea Regent yesterday, with the other on the bench.

The first signing is a return to Hartsdown Park for Chris Sessegnon. Brother of Spurs new signing Ryan, Chris previously signed for the club in September 2016 when they were in National League South, and then made thirteen appearances for the Blues as they returned to the Isthmian League in 2017/18. Recently recovered from a serious injury, he is primarily a defender but can also operate in midfield.

Harrison Pond, who started alongside Sessengnon yesterday, moves up from Step Five side Hollands & Blair, a success story for his former club despite their relegation battle last season- they finished the campaign nine points clear of the drop zone. he also turned out for the Dover Athletic Academy and Kent FA Representative team.

Giani Ashley was on the bench yesterday, and was signed after a trial. He spent the first half of last season appearing in defence for South Park in the South Central Division, and previously played for Hornchurch and Cambridge City.
