A generous Geordie

Hanwell Town keeper Hugo Sobte is rather parsimonious when it comes to opposition strikers, which is a big reason why the Geordies were in second place in the South Central Division when the campaign came to its premature end in March. But off the pitch he is anything but mean, as he proved yesterday when treating each of the club's young keepers to a new pair of gloves.

Hugo, who joined the club from Windsor last summer and went on to make thirty three appearances in his debut season, has dug deep in his own pockets and purchased sixteen pairs of gloves, in order that he can kit out all of the young shot-stoppers at the club in advance of the new season. But more than that, he has paid tribute to our fabulous National Health Service by having each set emblazoned with the NHS logo and the obligatory rainbow, with help from Victory Goalkeeper Gloves.
