A giant step for a Seasider!

By Ian Townsend

Felixstowe move level in their play-off chase, whilst Rovers and Seed Growers can’t be separated. It’s our Pitching In Isthmian North round up.

Felixstowe and Walton United have been superb of late. The Seasiders have won seven of their last ten, and indeed have only lost two of their last fifteen, which looks rather like promotion form, so it was no coincidence that their latest victory took them level on points with fifth place Brentwood Town in the race for the Play Offs.

Visitors Barking, starting the day in the penultimate position in our table, couldn’t live with the seasiders last night. Henry Barley put the hosts ahead after a quarter of an hour, and after the break all Blue resistance was ended as Andre Hasanally made it two and Leon Ottley-Gooch added a third. We now have three sides on forty eight points, Dereham Town sitting between Brentwood and the Seasiders, with a four point gap between the trio and Grays Athletic, in fourth.

Great Wakering Rovers, not entirely clear of trouble at the bottom end of the table, welcomed Coggeshall Town. The Seed Growers took the lead just before the break, Ross Wall with the opener, but two goals in two minutes as we approached the end of the match turned it on its head, Darnell Mavanga-Kithambo levelling on seventy one minutes and Jake Gordon putting the hosts ahead from the spot two minutes later. The visitors took something from the game right at the end, however, Jamal Balogun earning them a point which sees them remain three points ahead of their hosts.
