A Scholars trio

By Ian Townsend

Louie Henry, Shane Cojocarel and David Hicks are new at Potters Bar Town

Prior to Saturday's defeat at Horsham, Potters Bar Town announced a trio of signings.

Full back Louie Henry came in on loan from Stevenage, and the full back made an immediate debut. He has been with the League One club since he was part of the Under 9 squad, is the son of the club's record appearance holder Ronnie Henry, and these days plies his trade in the Under 18 squad.

David Hicks also comes in from Stevenage, only a few days after signing his first professional contract with the club, for whom he has played in the EFL Trophy this season. Midfielder David, who was also thrust immediately into the starting line up, is already a firm favourite with the Scholars faithful, as he has already had a loan spell at the Lantern Stadium this season, playing six times and scoring twice. He also picked up the Player of the Month Award.

Shane Cojocarel spent the closing stages of last season with Pitching In Isthmian South Central side Northwood, where he managed eleven appearances and scored three goals as the Woods reached the Play Off Semi-Final.

Shane has played for a number of our clubs, many of them on loan during a period when he was at Barnet, first as a scholar and later as a professional. The list includes Billericay Town, a previous spell with the Woods, Met Police, Merstham and Horsham, but he really came to our attention with Maldon and Tiptree during 2018-19, where he played twenty times and scored four goals. He moved on to Cheshunt later than season, and was their Playoff Final hero as they earned promotion, scoring two of their three goals against Bracknell Town, which gave him a total of eight goals in eleven appearances for the Ambers that season.

He moved off to FC Romania during the middle of the pandemic, and joined Woods in February last year.
