A South Central trio

By Ian Townsend

Badshot Lea, Binfield and Met Police are our Tuesday ‘hosts’

Second bottom Binfield, ten points from safety, have had so many matches rained off that they have a rather frantic end to the season in prospect- and they play the first of those this evening, as they move temporarily to the mud-free environs of Ascot United to ‘welcome’ Sutton Common Rovers. The Moles have lost four of their last five, a run of form which they will need to reverse rather quickly if they are to reignite their great escape, whilst visitors Rovers, seem to have picked up with two wins from their last four, and are surely safe in fifteenth. Another three points tonight would make sure of that- and give them a double after their four-one win on their own patch in November.

Badshot Lea have moved temporarily to Slough Town to try and escape the need to play football in wellingtons, and they welcome Hanworth Villa for an 8PM kick off. The Baggies are comfortable in twelfth place whilst Villa are four places and four points better off, their play off hopes at an end despite a fine run of only two defeats from ten. The Villains are actually a little better away from home than on their own patch, and the Baggies can say just about say the same, so a neutral venue is unlikely to harm the form of either side. Villa won their first meeting of the season, at the end of November, by three goals to one.

The Baggies are offering £5 entry to Reading and Slough Town season ticket holders- bring your ticket!

Finally, Metropolitan Police welcome Northwood. Neither side are mathematically clear of relegation, although the Woods surely would be with three more points, whilst the boys in blue have a thirteen point margin over second bottom Binfield, with the Moles having two games in hand. Met have gone seven games without a win, whilst the Woods have lost their last two matches but have shown some decent form of late- if coupled with a lack of consistency. Four wins, four defeats and two draws from their last ten tells the whole story.

When the two sides met in January, a Romario Jones goal for Northwood decided the contest.
