A South East Trophy focus

By Ian Townsend

We don't have any matches in Pitching In Isthmian South East today, but we do have ten South East sides competing in the FA Trophy. Here's our preview.

Ashford United play host to Three Bridges in an all-South East Trophy tie. The Nuts and Bolts won four-nil at Corinthian in the league in midweek, whilst their visitors did even better, winning by the same scoreline but demolishing Premier Division Lewes. When they last met in the League, back in February, Bridges sprung an enormous surprise and crushed their promotion chasing opponents five-one.

Chatham Town will hope to bounce back from cup defeat against Walton & Hersham in midweek by defeating Stowmarket Town. The Chats were seven matches unbeaten before the Chats came to call, whilst Stow have won two and drawn one of their last three but haven’t really hit last season’s heights yet.

Corinthian and Whitehawk meet in another South East Trophy match up. The Hopps haven’t yet managed a league win- and indeed have won only one match of any type this season; whilst the Hawks are six matches unbeaten. The Hawks took four points from six in last season’s league meetings between the two.

Cray Valley PM have lost only one of their last eight matches in all competitions, and will be confident as East Thurrock United arrive in South East London. The Rocks picked up their first League win of the season in midweek, but have saved most of their best form for cup competitions, having won three of their four knock out matches this season.

Hanworth Villa play host to Littlehampton Town. The Villains have been rather difficult to beat, losing just one league match this season- and have scored nine goals in their last three matches. The Golds started the season well, but have been less convincing in their last two matches, losing to Haywards Heath Town and drawing with Chichester City. They were knocked out of the FA Cup by another Pitching In Isthmian South Central side, Walton & Hersham.

Sevenoaks Town have been better in cup competitions that the league so far, with five knockout wins as opposed to one in Pitching In Isthmian South East. They bring Hertford Town of Pitching in Southern Division One Central to Greatness Park, Hertford having knocked Sheppey United out of the competition in the last round.

Sittingbourne welcome fellow Pitching In Isthmian South East side Burgess Hill Town. The Brickies saw a three match winning streak come to an end in midweek, as Hythe Town left Woodstock Park with three points; whilst the Hillians are still looking for a first league win, but have won three times in Cup and Trophy. Hill beat the Brickies twice last season.
