Baggies bounce back!

Badshot Lea banished Tuesday's defeat to the back of the memory banks with victory at Ashford Town

Pitching In Isthmian South Central saw Ashford Town welcome Badshot Lea. The Tangerines were eleven points clear of danger at kick off, but they had already played three matches more than twentieth place Binfield and the last thing they wanted to do was give the Moles any encouragement! It had been a strange few days for the visiting Baggies, who hit Northwood for four on Saturday only to be hit for six by the same opponents on Tuesday night- and we waited to find out what they had left in the tank.

The hosts went ahead early on, Juwon Akintunde opening the scoring on twelve minutes- and they held that lead at the break as the visitors made little headway. The second half, however, was an entirely different story.

The previous meeting between the sides, in November, saw the Baggies score three goals in victory, and the second half of this one saw them do the same again. It took five minutes for the equaliser to arrive, Lamin Ceesay getting on the end of a corner and finishing well- and fifteen minutes later the visitors were ahead for the first time, a penalty converted calmly by Joshua Keeya. The points were wrapped up six minutes from time, Baback Dehghani getting on the end of a pass from Kareem Akinibbi and sealing victory.

The Baggies close to within three points of the top ten, whilst their hosts remain in eighteenth place after a fifth defeat in six.
