Basingstoke are top- but can they stay there, or can the FIVE clubs below overhaul them?

By Ian Townsend

We've a collection of tense battles ahead tomorrow, at BOTH ends of the South Central table

Basingstoke Town lead the way, one of only two sides with a one hundred percent record- and they have that record in both league and cup, five matches, five wins. They host a Chalfont St peter side who have lost their last three, and only have an opening day win against Ashford Town to remember fondly so far this season.

Stoke boss Dan Brownlie will hope to hold off the Manager of the Month curse- and is featured above! Image from the club.

Bracknell Town, in second place, host Bedfont Sports in fourth- our match of the day in the Pitching In South Central Division. The Robins will be playing at The SB Stadium, Sandhurst, GU47 9BJ, so please don’t go to Larges Lane! Both sides are unbeaten in the League, and are separated only on goal difference- whilst Sports are also unbeaten in the cup, and have four wins and two draws from their six matches so far this season.

Uxbridge, in third, host South Park- both having departed the FA Cup in midweek replay defeats. The hosts are unbeaten in the league so far and have won each of the three league meetings between the sides, whilst the visitors don’t yet have a league victory and are looking to kick-start their league campaign- although haven’t been helped by not being able to play league matches at home as they await the installation of a 3G pitch.

Chipstead start the day in fifth, and host Binfield. The Chips scored nine goals in their last two League matches so will be looking forward to getting back to the bread and butter stuff after cup defeat last week, whereas the Moles have one win and two defeats from their first season at Step Four so far, but those defeats did come against the top two.

Marlow are undefeated in League and Cup, but have played a game fewer than all of their rivals at the top. In all competitions, however, it’s four matches and four wins, a superb start- and Westfield will have to be at their best to stop them tomorrow. Field haven’t won since the opening day, and yet that statistic really doesn’t tell the whole story of their season so far, their only league defeat coming against third place Uxbridge. Marlow took four points from six from their last two meetings, but Westfield won the two prior to that, with both sides having two wins and a draw from their last five meetings.

The Curfews play the Kingfishers as Chertsey Town host Thatcham Town. Chertsey are unbeaten, but have drawn two of their three league matches so far- although they’ve scored eight goals in two cup victories- whilst Thatcham lost narrowly to Basingstoke last time out but have defeated Tooting and Mitcham United recently.

Ashford Town, who picked up our Performance of the Month award for their walloping of Staines Town on Bank Holiday Monday, followed that by knocking Tilbury out of the cup. The Tangerines host another side filled with cup confidence, Sutton Common Rovers, who killed a giant- Cray Wanderers- last weekend.

Finally Northwood host Staines Town. The Swans have lost all three matches in all competitions so far this season and conceded ten goals in the process, whilst the Woods are also awaiting their first league win, their only point coming on the opening day against Thatcham Town. They’ve one win each and a draw from their last three meetings.
