Bay bring back Aikhionbare...and add another

A returning player and new arrival for Herne Bay

Herne Bay supporters yesterday saw the return of forward Junior Aikhionbare, and the club gave him his second debut from the bench in their victory over Haywards Heath Town.

Junior has most recently been at Whyteleafe, where he made twenty seven appearances over a season and a half, and scored five goals. Prior to his time at Leafe he played for Hythe Town, scoring six goals in twenty two appearances last season, and in 2017-18 he played for both Bay and for Greenwich Borough.

He is joined at the club by midfielder Samuel Naiwo. We don't know much about him, but we believe he's spent the last few years playing in Sweden and previously was a youth player with Crystal Palace and Cambridge United, before heading to the US on a football scholarship. Unless there's another footballer with a similar name! He was on the bench for the match yesterday.

The local paper announced a third signing, but having checked out the name they gave we believe he was somehow a figment of their imagination.
