Bay look to clinch their play off place, whilst at the bottom, six sides battle against the drop.

It’s our Pitching In Isthmian South East preview, with tension at either end

It’s almost done and dusted at the top, with Hastings United well out in front as champions and the four sides below them either secure of virtually secure of a play off spot, given Ramsgate’s recent implosion. United can have a big say in what happens at the bottom, however, as they travel to face second bottom Lancing, the Lancers desperately hoping that Hastings will have a hangover after Saturday’s trophy presentation. A home win would truly shake up the relegation fight, as well as tear up the form book.

Second place Ashford United are guaranteed home play off advantage, and could guarantee it all the way to the final should they triumph in the semi-final by taking one more point. The Nuts and Bolts are on the road to Faversham Town, who have nothing to play for but have been playing for nothing rather well of late, with only one defeat in their last six.

The battle for third place is far less clear cut, with only two points between the side that occupy it, Haywards Heath Town, and fifth place Herne Bay. Heath are on the road to Whitehawk, who, by one of those ironies often thrown up at this part of the season, are now managed by their former boss Shaun Saunders, and desperate for points to avoid being dragged into the bottom three.

Cray Valley PM, in fourth, travel to face local rivals VCD Athletic, who are secure in mid table and have only two wins from their last ten. The Millers have gone off the boil of late, losing their last two and five of their last ten, but if they want to have home advantage they need to get back to winning ways this afternoon.

Herne Bay welcome Hythe Town, knowing that they could confirm their play off spot and perhaps climb as high as third with victory. The Cannons aren’t entirely out of danger yet, so they will be looking for at least a point of their own.

Ramsgate have seen their play off hopes almost ended after losing six in a row. The Rams welcome Whitstable Town, the visitors knowing that defeat will likely see them relegated.

Burgess Hill Town could mathematically still finish fifth if Bay and the Rams lose both of their matches heavily and the Hillians produce a record score against Chichester City today and at Three Bridges next Saturday, but it is more than unlikely! The Hillians have had a very good last half of the season, however, and a sixth place finish shouldn’t be beyond them.

Corinthian, who have had a fine first Isthmian campaign, welcome Phoenix Sports, their visitors needing the points if they are to complete a great escape. Corinthian don’t concede many goals and have lost only two of their last ten, so Sports will need to raise their game.

East Grinstead Town, not quite safe yet, welcome Three Bridges, entirely safe and who got back to winning ways against Whitehawk at the weekend; whilst Sevenoaks Town, now entirely safe after a fine run under new boss Harry Hudson, welcome Sittingbourne.
