BetVictor Supporters Predictions- South Central Division: The Final Outcome

By Ian Townsend

The people have spoken- and here is their predicted final league table for the BetVictor Isthmian South Central Division 2019-20.

Over the past few weeks we’ve been presenting you with the views of supporters across the BetVictor Isthmian League, as they reviewed the season past and looked forward to the one about to start. As part of that process we’ve been highlighting their choices of who will finish in the top five, but what you might not know is that we’ve also been asking them to predict the entire final league table, from one to twenty. So we’ve got out the BetVictor Isthmian abacus, taken off our shoes and socks and finalised the maths, and it's time to channel your inner Nostradamus!

You are quite, quite certain that it’s time for those red red Robins to bob-bob-bob out of the South Central Division in an upward direction. Indeed, you are so convinced about this that sixty percent of respondents placed them in first place- and the last time we had that level of certainty in a pre-season prediction the fancied side was Billericay Town. Whatever happened to them?

If your play-off predictions are correct, then Harlow Town will lead the quartet who qualify for the end of season extravaganza. The only people who seem to disagree with that verdict are Harlow Town supporters, but they’re a rather pessimistic bunch of late and will hope that you’re right.

Tooting & Mitcham United are highly fancied, and if the rest of their side aren’t snapped up by professional clubs before the season ends they may well prove you right; whilst newly relegated Staines Town, now under the stewardship of former Walton Casuals boss Anthony Gale, have convinced a number of you that they are ripe for a return to Step Three. Marlow, so impressive last season, are expected to take the final playoff spot.

It seems that to finish just outside the playoff places you have to begin with W, as you expect Westfield, Waltham Abbey and Ware to fall short. The ninth and tenth place predictions for Chertsey Town and Barking seem to some extent to be because they are rather unknown to South Central audiences.

At the wrong end of the table you fear for South Park and FC Romania- indeed, you fear for them rather badly, placing them way behind the other sides you feel will be decorating the lower reaches. Not a single respondent placed the Sparks any higher than seventeenth, whilst almost fifty percent thought that the Wolves would end up in last place.

So there you go! We’ll revisit these predictions at the end of the season to see how you did, and undoubtedly a few managers will be sticking them on the dressing room wall this afternoon to inspire their sides to do better.

Thanks to all who participated, it was great fun reading your thoughts and we appreciate the time you took to share them with us.
