Wingate & Finchley have announced the departure of manager Marc Weatherstone.
Marc played four hundred and fifty times for the club, and returned to take on the top job in May last year. The Blues ended last season in fifteenth place, but this season hasn't been quite so positive, and he departs with them second from bottom and still looking for a first league victory.
Chairman Aron Sharpe told the club website:
'Marc was appointed in the Summer of 2021 as part of a new and exciting team. Unfortunately results and performances have just not been good enough. We both sat down and discussed - it is very difficult to make a decision with someone who has given so much to the club and is a club legend being the second highest appearance holder at Wingate & Finchley. More so that I also hold him in high regard. However, we both agreed it was in the best interest of the club.
He is a young man with a terrific future and this will simply be a learning curve as I expect for him to rebound and find himself a career as a football manager.'
