Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: AFC Hornchurch

Ann Hodgkinson gives a view from the Bridge (Avenue)

We asked supporters of our Bostik League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Ann Hodgkinson looks back on a wonderful season for the Urchins, and hopes for another!

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

AFC Hornchurch fans at Witham Town as promotion is secured

My favourite moment from last season would be seeing AFC Hornchurch being promoted as Champions of the Bostik North.

2. And your worst moment?

Hearing the news of manager Jimmy McFarlane's stroke- and the passing of club secretary, Pete Butcher.

3. How will you do this season?

It's always a big step up from Bostik North to Bostik Premier. Not a lot of teams do well when they go up. I feel, however, that we have a good side and we have kept the majority of players from last season which always bodes well.
I hope that the team can hold their own around mid-table and avoid relegation. Anything higher would be a bonus- although I wouldn’t say no to a good FA Cup / Trophy run!

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

This season it would be the grounds I've not been to before- Burgess Hill Town, Corinthian-Casuals and Bishop's Stortford.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

I don't think I have a favourite away ground, but the one that stands out from last season is Hereford.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Romford FC.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Get to Upminster early, enjoy a drink and lunch in town and then come down to the club for a friendly welcome. Relax in our nice bar- or if the weather is nice on our outside decking which looks out over the ground. And enjoy the game!

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?
I wouldn't say I had a favourite player, but two individuals who stand out for me would be Simon Parker, who scored the winner away at Weymouth in the FA Cup 4th Qualifying round back in 2008, and Elliott Styles- who retired last season- for his service to the club.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Margate, Kingstonian, Folkestone Invicta, Leatherhead, Tonbridge Angels

Where next?

Premier Division promotion hopefuls strengthen Margate and Tonbridge Angels bring in reinforcements
Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: Corinthian Casuals Stuart Tree of Corinthian-Casuals looks forward to the neighbours moving in- and to even more Casuals success despite their lack of a budget
