Brickies bus in the fans!

Sittingbourne have launched a new bus service to help fans get to their new out-of-town ground at Woodstock Park.

To boost gates and help fans without transport reach their brand new home, the Ryman South Brickies are running a free minibus service to and from Sittingbourne town centre on matchdays.

The service was run for the first time over the Bank Holiday weekend on Saturday when the Kent club finally kicked off at their new ground for the first time following ground grading issues.

Ironically, joint managers Jim Ward and Danny Ward led their side to a 1-0 win over Whitstable to clinch their first points of the season, the club they'd been ground-sharing with since the start of the campaign while officials and volunteers brought Woodstock Park up to scratch.

The new service proved to be a hit with travelling supporters and delighted Bourne spokesman Peter Pitts said: "The first journey saw 50 per cent capacity and we are hoping that once it is better publicised it will be become a popular feature of match days. The Sittingbourne FC website - www.sittingbournefc.co.uk - will give details of the bus, which is open to both home and away supporters, before every home fixture."
