Bridges stay top- whilst the Millers hit seven and Oaks get four

By Ian Townsend

We also have wins for Chichester, Beckenham, Burgess Hill and Ramsgate- and a late leveller for Sheppey at Sittingbourne

Leaders before kick off, Three Bridges, remain at the top- but only by the point they picked up against Merstham in a pulsating three-three draw, after the visitors struck back twice late on to level. Merstham went ahead on twenty seven minutes, Michael Abnett opening the scoring, but Bridges were level by the break- Ethon Archer with the equaliser- and then took control when a Brannon O’Neill double on seventy one and seventy nine minutes left them close to victory. Close…but not close enough, as the Moatsiders quickly reduced the arrears through Lewis Pearch and then levelled through Paul Lusuku to earn their first point of the campaign. Taylor Curran saw red for Bridges just before the end.

Our performance of the day undoubtedly belonged to Cray Valley PM, who are up to second as a result. The Millers went ahead at Phoenix Sports on sixteen minutes through Jensen Grant, and were three-nil up by the break, Michael Ademiluyi and Matthew Vigor adding to the lead. After the break they ran riot, Lyle Della-Verde, Kyrell Lisbie, Grant once more and Freddie Parker putting them seven up with twenty three minutes left, and although an Isaac Thompson double salvaged some pride for the hosts, it didn’t help much.

Chichester City (pictured, courtesy of the club) are up to third courtesy of a three-nil win at Broadbridge Heath. Ryan Davidson gave them the lead eight minutes before the break, and midway through the second half they eased further clear, Joe Clark and Conrad Honore added two more.

Hythe Town and Ashford United have maximum points from their two matches, but neither could add to them yesterday as their match was abandoned after a terrible injury to Adem Ramadan. We send our best wishes to Adem, who is awaiting surgery, and hope he has a speedy and full recovery.

Sevenoaks Town are fifth after hitting East Grinstead Town for four at Greatness Park. After sixty seven minutes with no goals we had five- and a red card- in the next twenty three. Dan Bennett gave Oaks the lead on sixty eight minutes, and seven minutes later a penalty converted by Solomon Baugh made it two-nil. It got worse for the Wasps when Tom Summerfield saw red with six minutes left, and then Palace Francis got a third for the hosts. A penalty to Grinstead saw Glenn Wilson get one back, and then at the other end Francis added a fourth to seal victory.

Ramsgate had to come from behind at Herne Bay, but managed to take all three points. Bay went ahead after only three minutes, Harrison Pont with the goal, but it was a mixed afternoon for Post as he was later sent off. In between his goal and his red card the Rams hit back to take the lead, Jordan Green levelling just after the break and Lee Martin scoring what proved to be the winner just after the hour. One thousand and thirty nine watched on.

Sittingbourne and Sheppey United welcomed six hundred and fifty one to the Martin & Conley Stadium, and the two sides delivered plenty of entertainment. Dan Bradshaw put the Ites ahead on thirty three minutes and kept up his record of scoring in every game- his fifth goal so far- but the Brickies levelled just before the break through Ayman El-Moghaebel. When the same player scored again for the hosts with seven minutes remaining it looked as if the home fans would be given local bragging rights, but deep into added time a penalty saw Richard Hamill level for the visitors.

Burgess Hill Town picked up their first win of the season, as manager Dean Cox returned to his former club, Lancing. The only goal of the game came from Rob O’Toole on twenty minutes, his fourth of the campaign so far.

Another side picking up their first league win were Beckenham Town. Becks made the trip to Erith and Belvedere, and after a goalless first half Anthony Adesite broke the deadlock on fifty one minutes. Seventeen minutes later the visitors were awarded a penalty, and Adesite did it again, sending his side up to twelfth.

We have another match this evening, Littlehampton Town welcoming Horndean to the seaside.
