Budd back at Burgess

Darren Budd returns to Burgess Hill Town

Burgess Hill Town have announced the return to the club of midfielder Darren Budd, who heads back to the More Than Tyres Community Stadium after a spell at Worthing.

The veteran midfielder came through the ranks at Brighton & Hove Albion before joining Bognor Regis Town. Spells with Eastbourne Borough, Whitehawk and Worthing followed, before he captained the most successful side in Burgess Hill Town history, the 2014-15 team which reached the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup (knocking Sutton United out on the way), the Second Round of the FA Trophy (including a victory over Aldershot Town), and claimed the Isthmian South title by a country mile, including an unbeaten run in the league which ran from the opening day until March 18th.

He then went back to Bognor (helping them to promotion in 2017), had a spell with Horsham, and spent more time with the Mackerel Men, part of the squad which won our Premier Division title in 2022. He was more recently part of the management team at Woodside Road, but announced his departure recently due to difficulties combining his role with work and family commitments.
