Butler out at Gorleston

A managerial departure in the Pitching In Isthmian North

Gorleston have announced the departure of manager Scott Butler, who led them to promotion last season.

In a statement, the club explained:

'The club would like to place on record it’s sincere gratitude for his time and effort representing the club. We recognise and appreciate Scott’s contribution to the management team winning the Thurlow Nunn title last season.

The Board have and always will act in the best interests of the club and at this stage of our project we feel a change is needed.'

The manager later released his own statement on social media:

'Sadly after nineteen years at the club Gorleston and myself last night parted ways. Disappointed with the timing, respect it's a results business but so early on, with the issues off the pitch, including training facilities and as everyone would have seen the injury challenges from the start of this season, but it's football and there's short memories.

I'm sure with players returning this group will turn results around and I wish the players the best.'

Gorleston have lost all of their league games so far, and departed the FA Trophy after a penalty shootout against Coggeshall Town in midweek.
