Can somebody finally beat the Robins?

By Ian Townsend

It's Chertsey Town's turn to try and trip up Bracknell, whilst there is only one point between second and fourth. It's our Pitching In Isthmian South Central preview.

It’s difficult to suggest that Bracknell Town will be tested tomorrow, as we’ve suggested that regularly and been wrong every time. The Robins, nineteen points ahead at the top, have won their last SEVENTEEN matches- but perhaps, just perhaps, fourth place Chertsey Town might be the one to do some damage? That said, the Curfews haven’t been in the best of form recently, losing their last three. But we can all hope, can’t we?

Hanwell Town have been in magnificent form (shame it isn’t them playing Bracknell tomorrow). The Geordies have climbed to second place by winning their last seven matches, scoring twenty six goals in the process and conceding none whatsoever. The last side to beat them was… (checks notes and experiences déjà vu)…Bracknell Town on December 18th. The Geordies welcome Marlow, who will be hoping to overturn that record and jump back into the top five after going three without a win and losing to…you know who…last time out.

Uxbridge got back to winning ways in midweek, and our third place side travel to Ashford Town hoping to climb up to second. That victory, over Chalfont St Peter, was their first in four, but the Tangerines record against the top five has been awful this season- including a two-nil loss to the same opponents back in October.

Basingstoke Town climbed back into the top five with a win over South Park in midweek. They are on the road to Surrey once more, this time to Chipstead, the Chips chirpy after victory over Chertsey Town last time around. The last time they met Stoke won two-one.

Bedfont Sports have slipped to seventh, six points outside the top five- although they do have two or more games in hand over the sides occupying the top five. Sports welcome Westfield to the end of the runway, with only one defeat in six leading up to this one; whilst the Woking side have won two of their last three and begun climbing the table.

Ninth hosts eighth as South Park entertain Binfield, both with only two wins from the last ten, whilst Northwood, after a club record six away wins in a row, might be rather disappointed to be back at home, welcoming Tooting & Mitcham United. Woods have won only twice at home, whilst the Terrors have won only twice away. Northwood haven’t yet had a home draw- perhaps this might be the one?

Chalfont St Peter, third from bottom, welcome Thatcham Town. The Saints, with two wins and eight defeats from their last ten, are eight points behind the Kingfishers, who seem to be improving with only one defeat in their last three.

Where next?
