Can the Rams return to the summit?

By Ian Townsend

Second place Ramsgate get a Good Friday head start on current leaders Cray Valley- whilst the Brickies hope to cement their play off spot. Oaks take on United in a mid table battle

Ramsgate head to Littlehampton Town- weather willing- with the chance to go back to the Pitching In Isthmian South East summit and put the pressure back on title rivals Cray Valley PM. The Rams have won five of their last six, and looked back to their best when hitting play off chasing Lancing for seven last time out; whilst their hosts, the Golds, ended a four match losing streak by defeating Merstham, and in doing so opened up a nine point gap on the bottom two.

Town lost four-nil on the Kent coast when the sides met in August- but they have defeated the Rams on the last two occasions the sides have met in Sussex, which should give them confidence as they look to climb to fifteenth.

The match kicks off at 1PM.

Third place Sittingbourne are back in action as they welcome Horndean to their Roman Stadium. The Brickies are eleven points clear of sixth place Three Bridges so have almost secured their place in the end of season play offs, and have won eight of their last ten- but they are more vulnerable on their own patch than on the road, having lost two of their last three home matches. The Deans will put them to the test, as they are in fine form, with three wins from four- including impressive victories over Hythe Town and Ramsgate. They’ll be looking for revenge after a three-nil defeat at the hands of the Brickies in August.

This one also kicks off at 1PM.

At a more traditional time of 3PM we’re off to Greatness Park, where Sevenoaks Town welcome Ashford United in a mid table battle. The Oaks play off chances have just about departed despite their eighth place- the gap between them and fifth now twelve points- but they were impressive in defeating Herne Bay last weekend and have only one defeat from their last four. The Nuts and Bolts, in contrast, have four defeats from their last five, and a campaign which started with great hope is heading towards a frustrating end. They start the weekend in thirteenth.

United have won four of their last five meetings- including the first between the sides this season.
