Cambridge City and Ipswich Town join forces to develop young players

Cambridge City have linked up with Ipswich Town in a new partnership to launch an Elite Player Development Centre (EPDC) Programme in Cambridge. The aim of the EPDC is to provide talented young players the opportunity to train on a weekly basis with Ipswich’s coaching staff in Cambridge.

The EPDC programme will play a key role in developing players over the course of the season and to further identify players who have the ability of progressing through the Player Development pathway into Ipswich’s Advanced Training Centre (ATC) and Academy squads.

Jason Curtis, head of the Ipswich Town Community Trust, explained:

“Ipswich Town Community Trust is delighted to be working with Cambridge City Football Club. The new Elite Development Centre will create the right environment for players within the programme to continue their footballing journey with us. This will allow both organisations to provide endless opportunities and experiences which will be exciting for everyone involved.”

Cambridge City chairman Kevin Satchell added:

“We are delighted to form this partnership with Ipswich Town. It enhances our commitment to make our already excellent youth programme even better. Having a partnership with a club like Ipswich and the many benefits it provides will ensure that it will attract the very best in youth talent to Cambridge City.”

To launch the partnership Ipswich Town and Cambridge City have announced an initial open trial and are looking for talented young players U7 to U12 for the Elite Player Development Centre.

The first trials will be on Wednesday 27 May 2020 at Trumpington Community Centre, Lime Avenue, Trumpington, Cambridge, CB2 9FD.

The trials will take place at the following times:
10.00am-11.15am – U7-U9
11.45am-1.00pm – U10-U12
