Cult midfielder now a worldwide star!

Do not adjust your screens this weekend if you keep seeing Corinthian-Casuals midfielder Jamie Byatt popping up on the BBC!

After the Ryman South club was selected to take part in a special piece to mark Saturday's FA Cup Preliminary Round, BBC Sport’s cameras descended on their King George’s Field ground on Thursday to talk to fans, players and officials about the club’s illustrious history and links to the world’s oldest cup competition before their tie at league rivals Horsham.

Along with the interview with Byatt, pictured, already a cult figure among the club’s followers in Brazil after making headlines in South America on the final day of last season when he was snapped kissing the badge of Corinthians Paulista in celebration, viewers should look out for starring roles from chairman Brian VanDerVilt and club ambassador and player Chris Watney.

Former England cricket captain Alec Stewart, a club stalwart who made his debut for the Surrey outfit in 1979 and still turns out to play in their commemorative Schools XI, was also quizzed for the programme which was being aired from Friday evening on the BBC News Channel, BBC World and BBC Sport website.
