Tim Dixon is returning to the dugout in Ryman South with Hythe Town next season after succeeding Scott Porter at Reachfields.

The 49-year-old former Ramsgate manager, pictured, fended off competition from 20 other applicants to win the post, left vacant by Porter’s departure at the end of the season, on Monday night.

His appointment follows hot on the heels of the announcement of Trevor Kennett as the Kent club’s new chairman.

Dixon brings a wealth of experience to the role. He was appointed as manager of the Rams in April 2012 as successor to Jim Ward, stepping up from his role as assistant along with coach Darren Beale, who will also become part of the new managerial set-up at The Cannons.

During his first full season in Ryman South he finished just one point off the play-offs before leaving the club in an almost identical position in February this year. Dixon was also a member of Dover Athletic’s backroom staff and enjoyed a spell in charge of the reserves at the Crabble.
