Southall have had a fine first Pitching In Isthmian South Central season, ending it in tenth place and with only the top four losing fewer games. The All now have even more reason to celebrate, as manager Max Howell, who has steered them to unprecedented success, has agreed to stay on to see whether his charges can do even better next season.
As a player, Max came through the youth ranks at Luton Town, moving on to play for the likes of Northwood, Chesham United, Hillingdon Borough and Uxbridge. He became a coach and then a manager at an age when most players are still in their prime, taking to the dugout early after a spate of injuries. He took Southall to fourth place in the Combined Counties Premier in his first season in charge, and, following the two pandemic hit campaigns, steered them to promotion last season before this season's tenth place finish- their first Isthmian campaign since the Millennium.
