Met pulling out all the stops and pints too!

The Met Police are pulling out all the stops to ensure a big crowd gets behind Jim Cooper's side on Saturday when a win over AFC Hornchurch could see them claim a late place in the Ryman Premier's play-offs.

After designating their final day fixture at Imber Court as a 'pay what you want' day for fans earlier this week, Met officials announced on Thursday night that they'll also be serving up cheap beer after teaming up with the Imber Court Sports Club.

Running between 2pm and 6pm, the 'football special' offer will see fans enjoying 50p off a pint of Carlsberg or East Coast IPA beer.

Met manager Cooper needs three points on Saturday to stand any chance of seeing his side make the play-offs and he reckons the initiative couldn't be better timed with so much at stake on the final day of the regular season.

Cooper, pictured, said: "I think the pay what you want initiative is a great idea. We just want to try and encourage more people to come and watch games and especially this Saturday.

"It is sure to be a lively atmosphere as we will work hard to secure all three points and then see how the other results have gone. I know AFC Hornchurch will want to give a good account of themselves so we can expect a tough game with something like a cup final atmosphere."

He added: "As usual police officers and staff can enter for free with their ID but entry for anyone else will be whatever they wish to pay. Feel free to bring friends or family along as the sports club adjoining the ground is a lovely place to relax before and after the game."
