Chairman Frank Thompson commented: "Appointing Tommy Williams as first-team manager was a unanimous and straight-forward decision, as he has good working knowledge of the club, built up over many years.
"Tommy also has a good understanding of the game at this level and is liked by the club’s supporters, players and management alike. He also works well with Ian Hazel who will continue to bring the youth through the ranks. Tommy is extremely professional in his approach not only with the players, but also with club officials and everyone else that he comes in to contact with. We all look forward to Tommy being a huge success.”
Williams said: "I'm absolutely delighted to accept this appointment, and have a sense of immense pride in being offered the position. All my efforts will be devoted to making sure that the first team is successful and I’m really hungry to do well, as I’m sure are my players, my management staff and club officials alike.”
After two victories as caretaker manager, Williams' luck ran out in his first game in full charge as Robins lost 2-1 at Kingstonian today (Saturday).
