Sittingbourne reckon they’ll be keeping a close eye on this season’s FA Youth Cup Final after the Ryman South club revealed that there was a real Brickies feel to Chelsea’s semi-final victory over Arsenal.
The Blues are taking on Fulham in May after beating the Gunners 3-1 on aggregate in the second leg of their semi-final at the Emirates on Friday, winning 1-0 on the night thanks to the clean sheet kept by Mitchell Beeney - son of former Brickies manager and occasional player, Mark.
If Chelsea had failed, Sittingbourne Secretary Pete Pitts says the Kent club would still have had an interest in the final as the young Gunners were managed by Carl Laraman, Sittingbourne’s full-time assistant manager 20-odd years ago!
