Canvey Island

Canvey Island's Supporters' Player of The Year Jack Simmons has left the Ryman Premier to join National League South side Dartford.

The former-Colchester United youngster signed for the Gulls in October 2014 from Leiston before going on to score five times in 32 appearances for the club.

The winger, pictured, opted to join the Darts as they look to bounce back from relegation from the Football Conference's top flight in April. He will join George Sykes at Princes Park after the former-Gulls loanee also decided to sign for the Kent side.

The Gulls say both players left with the club's best wishes and revealed they are set for an early return.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the club said: "Both Jack and George won't be away from The Prospects Stadium for long with our opening pre-season friendly being against Dartford on Saturday 11 July.

"We wish both players the very best of luck at Dartford and thank them for their efforts in yellow and blue."
