Faversham add reinforcements

A defender and a winger for the Lilywhites

Experienced former East Grinstead Town and Thamesmead Town defender Steve Springett has announced- via social media- that he has signed for Faversham Town, and given the club have retweeted this we assume that it is correct!

Steve has most recently been playing for Erith Town, who are currently sitting in twelfth place in the SCEFL. He also ran the Great North Run in September, but we don't think he's planning on a parallel career as a professional athlete. Two hours and thirteen minutes- we've no idea whether that's good or not, but take off our collective Isthmian hats to anyone who can manage to run for thirteen miles!

Steve also previously turned out for Ebbsfleet United, Phoenix Sports, Aveley, Cray Valley PM, Cray Wanderers and Glebe, amongst others.

Steve is joined at Salters Lane by former Sittingbourne stalwart Tom Loynes. Tom was the Brickies longest-serving player, with 150 appearances, but has recently not been getting the game time he would have liked after returning from injury- and has made the decision to move on. His former manager Chris Lynch feels that the players decision to leave has been made hastily, but the player explained that he felt he needed to seek regular football elsewhere.

Loynes was a massive crowd favourite at Woodstock Park- as evidenced by the outpouring of affection for him on social media. He made his debut in the Velocity Trophy match against Whitstable Town on Tuesday night.
