Walter Figueira makes a Lewes debut

Lewes gave an Isthmian debut to forward Walter Figueira in their victory over Concord Rangers on Saturday. He had made a club debut in a Fenix Trophy match in midweek, in Oslo.

Walter was a Chelsea youth as a youngster, playing regularly for the Under 18 and Under 21 sides at Stamford Bridge. He played for Hayes & Yeading United and then went off to play in Greece, before coming back to the UK and joining our ranks. He played half a dozen times for Bognor Regis Town and seven more for Wingate and Finchley, scoring his only goal for the club as they defeated Burgess Hill Town in February 2017.

He then spent a short time in Portugal with Moura, before heading back our way once more, joining Dulwich Hamlet after their promotion to National League South.

Walter was then a critical part of Merstham's Playoff Finalists in 2018-19, scoring nineteen goals along the way. That form earned him a move to Ireland, where he played for Waterford, Derry City and Sligo Rovers. He returned to our shores and played for Kingstonian, playing nineteen times and scoring three goals, and last season saw him play twenty two times for Carshalton Athletic, scoring twice, before returning to Bognor Regis Town, where he played twenty three times.

He moves to the Rooks from Haringey Borough, where he has played thirty four times this season, and scored three goals. He featured against his new club as Lewes defeated Borough four-one at the Dripping Pan in November.
