Friday Night Football

By Ian Townsend

Can Towners reach the top two? Or can Casuals bounce back? And can Regent triumph in the Cup? Too many questions for a Friday night, but here's our preview

Enfield Town have taken ten points from their last four Pitching In Isthmian Premier matches, a run which has seen them climb into the top five. Brightlingsea Regent, Margate and Horsham have been vanquished, eleven goals have been scored, and only three conceded. Next up, Corinthian-Casuals are travelling down Donkey Lane this evening, and another home win will take the Towners second- and they could even go first, but it was need to be a rather hefty victory given the goal difference of leaders Hornchurch.

Casuals have slipped to second bottom, and really need to start picking up some points. Without a win since the opening day they've lost their last four matches in all competitions- although two of the league defeats came against Hornchurch and Aveley, top five sides at the time.

Last season saw the Towners win the first match between the two sides by two goals to one at King George's Field, and the second match at the QEII Stadium went the same way, making it six points from six for tonight's hosts. The last six meetings between the two have seen four wins for the Towners, two for Casuals.

Kick off is at 7.45 PM.

Brightlingsea Regent travel to Needham Market hoping to reach the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history. Regent are having an up and down sort of campaign so far, but it's been all up in the Cup, Mildenhall Town and Waltham Abbey defeated. The Marketmen are in fourth place in Pitching In Southern Premier Central, and are in fine form having won their last five matches- the last four without conceding a goal.

Kick off is at 8PM.
