Friday night football at Aveley

By Peter Butcher

FRIDAY night football returns to the league tomorrow when Aveley host their local rivals, and former tenants, Romford in a Ryman North encounter.

The initiative was originally agreed by the league's board of directors last season but the designated Friday matches were postponed due to early-season cup-ties taking priority, and later on the weather.

It is hoped that tomorrow's fixture beats the weather and it will be interesting to see whether the attendance is significantly more than might have been expected on a Saturday.

The kick-off is at 7.45 and the Millers' clubhouse will be open from 6pm. The ground address is: Mill Field, Mill Road, Aveley, RM15 4SJ

In the event of poor weather, Aveley secretary Craig Johnson will be available on 07946 438540 for updates.

Should the match be postponed an attempt will be made to stage it on Saturday at 3pm.

Where next?

Football for a fiver RYMAN Premier club Enfield Town are hoping to attract new fans by reducing the admission price to £5 for two forthcoming league matches.
Foxes win at last TWO goals by Usama Hamdan earned Ilford a 2-1 home win over Redbridge in their Ryman North relegation derby tonight (Wednesday), a result which sent Ware back to the foot of the table.
