A team of fundraising fans from Bury Town are almost half-way home after setting off on a four day sponsored cycle ride from League One Bury's JD Stadium in Lancashire to the Ryman Premier club's home in Suffolk.

Led by Bury Town CEO Michelle Banfield-Curran, a group of sixteen riders including manager Ben Chenery and defender Justin Miller, set off on the 224 mile Bury2Bury cycle ride on Thursday.

The group, pictured, are aiming to raise £20,000 to be split between the charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer and the club.

Along the way home to the Frames Conservatories Direct Ram Meadow Stadium, the riders have planned to call in at football grounds en route including Stoke City's Britannia Stadium, Leicester City FC’s King Power Stadium and Peterborough United’s London Road Stadium.

Fans are being updated on their progress on Twitter and before setting off, the club's CEO Banfield-Curran told www.buryfreepress.co.uk: “This certainly will be a challenge, the route is not flat and will challenge their legs and their mental strength. The daily target of approximately 50 to 70 miles is an achievable target for all.”
