Shepway Council’s officials have given Folkestone Invicta the go-ahead to reopen their Ryman South Fullicks Stadium in time for Saturday’s home game against Guernsey after work to repair storm damage was completed on time.

The local authority’s contractors finished working to make the main stand safe on Wednesday after its roof had been partially blown away during the storms that wreaked havoc across the country before Christmas, pictured.

Invicta were later given the green light to host their first game of 2014, the eagerly awaited lunchtime kick-off in First Division against the Green Lions, following an inspection by engineers and health and safety officials.

Chairman Mark Jenner urged fans to turn out in force to roar Neil Cugley’s play-off chasing side on and help repair the damage to the club’s finances after the postponement of two lucrative fixtures over the festive period as a result of the storm.

Jenner said: "The contractors have completed the first phase of work on the main stand and so the Council have given us clearance to open the ground again. Saturday’s game against Guernsey will go ahead as scheduled with the early kick-off time of 12.45pm. We really need your support for this one so please come and support the team who are playing exciting football and are now in contention for the play-off places again. You will not be disappointed!"
