Former Dover and Torquay man returns to Hartsdown Park

Margate have announced the return to Hartsdown Park of defender George Essuman.

George, 22, was a youth player with Norwich City, West Ham United and Sheffield Wednesday before ending up at Maldon & Tiptree. He made nine appearances for the Jammers in 2016-17 before moving on to VCD Athletic, also in the North Division at this point, making two more.

In March 2017 he was snapped up by National League Dover Athletic, and it was during this period that he first spent time at Margate, making ten appearances on loan and scoring in their final day draw at Dulwich Hamlet (who at that point were playing at Imperial Fields, home of Tooting and Mitcham United). He left Dover to join Torquay United in the summer of 2018- but now he's back with Gate, and could make a second debut as they travel to Salisbury in the FA Cup tomorrow.
