Gulls sign Eastwood the Younger

Freddy follows in his fathers footsteps

Canvey Island have announced the loan signing of Southend United forward Freddy Eastwood.

No, manager Mark Bentley hasn't purchased a DeLorean with a flux capacitor. This isn't the Freddy who played for Southend whilst they were winning promotions more than a decade ago- although that one is still younger than Jamie Cureton so perhaps it might be worth giving him a call- it is instead his son, also called Freddy, who is currently lighting up the Shrimpers Under 18 side.

The attacking midfielder could make his debut against Great Wakering Rovers today.
