Kevin Head has told Aveley that he hopes to return to the Ryman League's Millers one day after the physio took the chance to step back into the dugout as a manager with Ilford in the Essex Senior League.

The Millers' long-term physio, pictured, is widely respected for his coaching and medical skills having previously managed Aveley's FA Cup opponents and First Division North rivals Waltham Forest.

In a joint statement released by the club this weekend, Millers manager Justin Gardner and the rest of the staff and players said they were 'sad' to hear of Head's departure but wished him well and looked forward to his return.

A spokesman added: "Everyone at the club would like to wish Kevin the best of luck at Ilford and we hope to see him back at Mill Field again sometime soon."

In an open letter to a club he describes as 'family', Head said: "I am very sad to be leaving the Aveley family once more. I have been the club physio for many years now and have enjoyed the ups and downs of being involved with Aveley.

"But after my time with Waltham Forest as manager I have always wanted to have another go at coaching and have been given the chance with Essex Senior League side, Ilford, as first team coach. It will be a chance to gain more experience which will help me on my return to the Aveley family.

"I wish to thank Graham [Jennings, Aveley Chairman] and Craig [Johnson, Aveley Secretary] for all their support over the years and to all the players, past and present, and last of all to the fans.

"We don’t need Mourinho, cause we have our physio' will always be special to me. Thank you. The Aveley family is now and always will be my club and I will return. Good luck to all."

And Head backed Esther Ibrahim, his successor in the medical room at Mill Field, to be a success. He added: "The management wish to improve the club, which I understand and agree with fully, and by bringing in a physio of Esther Ibrahim's standard is a great move for the club, players and team."
