Hessenthaler junior joins Gate

Margate

Ryman League Margate have taken the teenage son of Andy Hessenthaler to Hartsdown Park after agreeing a loan deal with League One outfit Gillingham.

The Premier Division's Gate say Jake Hessenthaler, 19, has joined them on a month's loan after making his debut in Saturday's 3-1 win over Harrow Borough.

The midfielder earned a one year contract at the Priestfield Stadium last season after impressing manager Martin Allen, his father's successor at the Gills. The teenager went on to enjoy loan spells at both Lewes and Conference Premier side Tamworth last season.

Margate's joint-manager Simon Osborn said: "He is a great signing for the club albeit only for a short period. He is a good ball player who has a lot of energy in the middle of the park, something that I think we are lacking at times."
