A Velocity shootout victory for the visitors

In the Velocity Cup, South Central leaders Chertsey Town welcomed Westfield. The Curfews had charged to the top of the table by winning their last six matches, however their visitors had also been in decent form, their previous ten matches in all competitions bringing eight wins and only two defeats. The two sides met at the end of August, and didn’t manage a goal between them- but someone had to win this one- and it turned out to be the visitors, after a late equaliser and spot kicks. Luke Robinson put Chertsey ahead after just three minutes, only for former Chertsey star Jake Baxter to immediately equalise for the visitors. Just after the half hour Oliver McCoy restored home advantage, and it looked like the Curfews were through, only for Andrew Crossley to level right at the death. Off we went to penalties, the visitors holding their nerve and triumphing five-three.
