Highlights: New Salamis 3 Ipswich Wanderers 2

By Ian Townsend

A five goal thriller- but the Salamina hold on for three points

On Friday Night New Salamis played host to Ipswich Wanderers, and looked to have the match won in the first half before having to cling on to win after the visitors came alive after the break. Joe Waight opened the scoring for the hosts on twenty five minutes, and they looked comfortable at the break after Derek Asamoah scored his first goal since his return to make it two. Wanderers were back in the match on fifty three minutes, Paulo Coelho halving the arrears, but an Asamoah penalty made it three-one to the Salamina with twenty three minutes remaining and provided a modicum of comfort for the home support- although they weren’t comfortable for long. A Lewis Kincaid goal for the visitors brought it back to three-two, and there were sixteen minutes to find an equaliser- but it didn’t arrive, and New Salamis end the weekend in fourteenth.
