Hill halt Oaks second place hopes

Burgess Hill Town and Sheppey United deliver home victories, whilst the Millers take a late point against Littlehampton

Cray Valley PM played their eighteenth match of the season last night- and only their fifth in the league- and for much of the match it looked as if they’d experience their first league defeat of the campaign, until a late goal earned them a point. Victory over Littlehampton Town looked likely when Kyrell Lisbie’s thirteenth of the season gave them the lead on the half hour, but the Golds, who took four points from the Millers last season, levelled soon after the restart and then went ahead just after the hour, Finlay Chadwick with both goals. It looked as if the visitors had three points wrapped up, but right at the end Denzel Gayle found an equaliser for the Millers, who ended the day in ninth. The Golds are fifteenth.

Sheppey United are up to fourteenth, after playing only their fifth league match of the season- their sixteenth in all competitions. The Ites went ahead against Lancing just after the half hour, Josh Wisson opening the scoring with a fabulous volley- but they were unable to secure the points until the closing stages, an own goal bringing their second just three minutes from time. Right at the end Alex Willis added a third to make the victory seem more comfortable than it was.

Burgess Hill Town thwarted any ambitions that visitors Sevenoaks Town had of taking second place. The match at the Homecall Carpets Community Stadium had only one goal, and it arrived eleven minutes after the break, Dan Perry scoring for the second match in a row and sending his side up to eighth place- a point behind their fifth place visitors.
