Hunt is on to replace double act

By David Watters

The hunt is underway at Hastings United to replace Garry Wilson and Danny Bloor after their weekend exit in the wake of the club's failure to reach the Ryman South play-offs.

A 2-1 defeat at home to Herne Bay on Saturday's final day saw the former Lewes manager and his number two tender their resignations almost a year after taking over from Nigel Kane, the last of three managers from a torrid 2014-15 campaign.

Despite guiding the Arrows to good runs in the FA Cup, FA Trophy and Robert Dyas League Cup in his second spell at the helm while also achieving a memorable Sussex Senior Cup victory away to League Two side Crawley Town back in November, truly consistent league form proved elusive for Wilson and his assistant, pictured, with a backlog of fixtures further hampering progress over the run-in and ultimately costing them a shot at promotion.

In a statement confirming their departures and thanking the pair for their efforts, the club said: "Wilson and Bloor cited a combination of personal and footballing reasons for their decisions to step down and everyone at the club would like to thank them both for their hard work throughout the 2015-16 season and wish them all the very best for the future."
