Former Braintree boss is new manager- and Director of Football- at Sittingbourne

Sittingbourne have quickly moved to bring in a new manager following the departure of Nick Davis, with the appointment of former Braintree Town boss Ryan Maxwell- who also takes on the role of Director of Football.

Ryan watched the Brickies defeat to Whitehawk on Saturday from the bench, and also gave a second half debut to new signing Chaynie Burgin, who played for him at Braintree.

As a manager, Ryan steered Braintree to National League South safety for two successive seasons, before departing the club of his own volition in May last year. he was previously in charge at Walthamstow.

Ryan will be familiar to fans at a collection of our clubs as he turned out for a number of them during his playing career, including Grays Athletic, Margate, Bishop's Stortford, Tonbridge Angels, Billericay Town, Whyteleafe, Heybridge Swifts and Witham Town. He also played in Scotland for Hamilton Academicals and Raith Rovers, and this side of the border for Braintree, Welling United, Dagenham and Redbridge, Gravesend and Northfleet and more.

He played youth football much higher up the pyramid, for the likes of Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

You can hear an interview with him here.

He is joined at the Brickies by Assistant Che Stadhart, Coach Billy McMahon and strength and conditioning coach Glen Warwick.
