Millers get back to winning ways...

...and their goalkeeper opens the scoring!

Aveley last night welcomed Basildon United to Parkside, and got back to winning ways after five consecutive draws by putting four goals past the Bees on a wind-blown evening.

We mention the wind because it particularly helped the Millers opening the scoring. Keeper David Hughes hit the ball forward from inside his own area only to be celebrating seconds later, as the strong wind and a tricky bounce saw it fly over the head of George Marsh and nestle in the back of the Bees net!

After the break George Sykes, Jason Raad and Wyan Reid added three more to make sure of a comfortable victory, and Aveley leapt into second place in the North Division- albeit thirteen points behind leaders Maldon & Tiptree.

Tilbury drop to third, one of three clubs on fifty points- the others being Heybridge Swifts and Bury Town. There is then a seven point gap to sixth place Coggeshall Town- although the Seed Growers do have four games in hand over both of the sides directly above them.

Basildon end the night two points above bottom side Romford- who have a game in hand.
