Romford's excellent start to the season continued as they hosted Baldock Town of the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division in the FA Cup this afternoon, Paul Martin's side coming from behind to grab a last minute winner.
Kim Forsythe put the visitors ahead in the thirteenth minute, but Kurt Smith levelled six minutes later and scored his second from the spot as half time approached. Town didn't falter, however, and drew level through Liam Kenna with twenty eight minutes remaining, but another penalty right at the death- this time taken by Roddy Lemba- left Boro fans in dreamland.
Ashford Town weren't quite so fortunate, however. Travelling to the Badgers Sports Ground in Eltham, also the home of Greenwich Borough, The Tangerines were hoping to avoid recording a similar result to their fellow Bostik League side, who were yesterday thrashed by Step Five Lancing in the same location. They ended the day disappointed, however, as hosts Cray Valley Paper Mills ran riot.
The Millers were ahead in the 9th minute through Joe N'Guessan, and doubled that lead before half time, Denzel Gayle slotting home. Fifteen minutes after the restart former Charlton Athletic, Colchester United, Ipswich Town and Leyton Orient striker Kevin Lisbie made it 3-0, and whilst Bradley Wilson pulled one back the home side weren't to be denied, Lisbie making it 4-1 with four minutes to go.
In other FA Cup news, it has been confirmed that Brentwood Town will travel to Sporting Bengal for their replay on Wednesday evening. Other replays are scheduled for the first week of September.
On Tuesday 4th Cray Wanderers travel to Rusthall, Whyteleafe travel to Saltdean United and Witham Town take on Coggeshall Town, whilst Lewes entertain Molesey the following day.
